Guidance & Encouragement
The Middle School at BINUS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL Simprug encompasses Grades 6 to 10. It is the point at which the curriculum becomes increasingly less integrated as characterized by the Elementary School and more subject based. The curriculum is based upon The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. The Indonesian Department of Education also recognizes our international programmes.
The Middle School Curriculum provides students with a stimulating and challenging opportunity to study a broad range of subject-based topics in both a national and international context. Assessment is both formative and summative, and knowledge and understanding may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, which allows each student the opportunity to experience success. English is the dominant language of instruction in the Middle School. An option for all students is to receive instruction in Mandarin Language at an appropriate level to ensure early mastery.
It is in the Middle School that the learning and knowledge application skills introduced in the Elementary School are reinforced, enhanced and consolidated. Students are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their own academic progress, and develop an appropriate work ethic and study program as preparation for senior high school studies.
In keeping with the philosophy of the School, the focus remains upon the joy of discovery, a love of learning, the encouragement of inquiry and creativity, and upon the continual construction of knowledge based upon already acquired knowledge and real life experiences. Teaching methodology is student-centered and interactive.
